If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t…why not?!) you probably already saw that our brand new gazebo (I’m talking like 2 weeks old!) landed on the neighbor’s roof the other day. Yeah! I know!
Here in South Florida we’re used to lots of pouring rain and harsh winds, so when they issued a tornado warning we were all “Yeah, ok. Whatever.” But let me tell you, it’s no joke! There we were minding our own business, making dinner, when the neighbor knocked on the door (our neighbors never knock on our door, they might wave every now and then but that’s it) and we walked outside to find this:
And this is after all the pieces on the floor were pulled off the poor guy’s roof. If you notice the six (!!!!) CEMENT stones are still attached! My heart was broken! We have the absolute WORST luck! I realize in the grand scheme of things this is something so minute (especially recently) but at the time it seemed terrible and when I called my mom she laughed!
Thankfully it didn’t damage his roof, and he wasn’t even mad. So, I did the only neighborly thing I could think of: I baked him cookies!
I am so glad I didn’t skimp out and used my time intensive recipe with melted butter, two kinds of sugars, and chilled dough because when I brought them over he asked me if I baked them myself (yes, from scratch) and told me he was a baker! I didn’t know that but I think we’re going to get along justtttt fine (if we can keep our next gazebo on the ground, that is)!
